What is graphic design?
Before we jump right into it Let’s, first of all, understand what graphic designing is. Graphic designing is basically visual communication with typography, iconography, illustrations, images colours and so on.
The amazing thing about graphic designing is that communication can go beyond languages and words. You don’t have to be Spanish to understand a message in a design, it’s universal.
For example, take a look at this simple design:
when Paris was in chaos and war.
Graphic designers used their skills to pass the message that peace should reign.
The letter “A” represents the Eiffel tower in Paris.

To learn things fast at this time we live in is a super-power. And your learning abilities can directly influence your earning abilities and also it increases your chances of you reaching your goals and improve your life.
It’s essential now to learn how to learn things fast because – no matter your career- everything is constantly changing and evolving and without the skills to learn fast you will become outdated and would not be able to keep up(especially if you are in tech industry).
WHAT IS LEARNING?
According to Wikipedia, Learning is the process of acquiring new understanding, knowledge, behaviours, skills, values, attitudes, and preferences. The ability to learn is possessed by humans, animals, and some machines; there is also evidence for some kind of learning in certain plants. (Imagine even plants learn).
Learning is the core foundation of personal growth, and it’s a habit that everyone should have, to achieve improvement in every aspect of one’s life.
BENEFITS OF LEARNING ANYTHING FAST
Before we talk about how we can learn anything fast let us see some of the benefits:
You will stand out
You will have unfair advantages over others
You will be more productive
You will cope faster
Make faster decisions
Anyone can learn how to be a fast learner as long as you put your mind to it and put in the work.
It’s like an exercise you can train yourself to learn anything fast and the good thing is that the more of your brain you use the more you will have to us
If you study the lives of great men and women that achieved extraordinary things on earth, You will notice a mindset and approach they possess towards learning, which is, they are committed to live-long-learning; they learn constantly, which makes them masters of their games.
And this mindset is something we all should have because it opens our mind to new experiences and learning will not be seen as a hard task but an adventure.
Even when we face challenges or failure we will see it as an opportunity to learn from it and move on since we are lifelong learners.
And it makes the process of learning fast effective because learning is your lifestyle.
WAYS TO LEARN THINGS FAST
1.DO NOT MULTITASK: learning is not an easy task; It requires absorbing new information, concepts and ideas. And studies found out that our brain performs better when we are focused on one thing.
If you focus a magnifying glass on a paper under the sun for some minute you will see the paper will gradually start burning, our mind is even more powerful than that when you focus on what you are learning – you become one with the object and learn faster but no fire. (Lol).
Actually, there is nothing like multitasking; it’s called switching of tasks back and forth and that hurt our productivity especially if we are learning new concepts or skills.
So just remember that: the quality of input determines your quality of retention.
2.TAKE SHORT BREAKS: A study published in the journal Cognition concludes short breaks help keep your attention span on track.
When you are learning something you would focus on the material for a certain period of time and when you do not take breaks you might become fatigued and lost motivation because of the boredom and tiredness
The Pomodoro technique helps with productivity and time management.
3.Always reflect on what you’ve learnt: New information and concepts don’t just stick to the mind except extra work are done like reflecting and thinking about what has been learned.
The constant reflecting and observations of the new information make it sticks – Repetition aids retention.
Reflection also includes testing yourself on the subject and asking yourself questions and providing the answer. Also going back to correct yourself on the concepts that are still over your heads. This process cements the knowledge.
4.IMPLEMENT: Learning includes both inputs and outputs. Inputs are the reading of books, taking courses, attending seminars, webinars and listening to podcasts – it’s basically the intake of information.
While outputs include the reflection, implementation and sharing(teaching) of the concept. So many people focus, mainly on the input and do little or no output but it doesn’t work that way. You actually need more of the output.
“For true mastery, you need to focus more on the OUTPUT, rather than the INPUT“
learning is incomplete if what has been learnt is not implemented. For the reason for learning in the first place is to implement and practise it.
For example, no amount of books you read on how to ride a bicycle will teach you how to ride a bicycle without actually implementing the lesson on a bicycle.
So also in graphic designing, programming, writing, skating, driving, digital marketing, and all other professions.
THE GREAT AIM OF EDUCATION IS NOT KNOWLEGE BUT ACTION
5. Share(Teaching): this is one of the best ways to learn anything fast. It’s effective because you can’t teach what you don’t know just like you can’t give what you don’t have.
So it forces you to really know the concepts.
When you teach you to get to know the concepts or skills more and more.
There are different ways you can do the outputting(implementation and teaching) like teaching what you’ve learnt on a blog(like me now) or a youtube channel or even if it teaching a non-living thing(just don’t do that where people will see you otherwise you might end up in psychiatry hospital) and make sure it’s in your own words and understanding.
Like physical exercise, we all can train our brain muscles to learn anything fast and effective. Our mind is the most powerful tool but it wouldn’t work for us if we don’t do the work.
Remember we take in information and we have to put the information to use and that is what will guarantee the information or skill to stick in your head.
If there are any other points that you feel should be added to these ones please comment it in the comment section below.
So you know how essential it is to have a website for those that don’t know check it out here.
Now you‘ve decided to create a website for your brand or a client or for someone else. The foundation for creating a website is very important because it can make or break your entire project.
I don’t know how a house is built, but I do know that creating a website is like building a house – once the foundation is not properly done the house might collapse in the future. In this context, your website might collapse, lack visitors, not indexed by google, slow and so much more
So even if you are hiring a web developer, you still have to know the foundation and the basics to make sure your website’s foundation is unshakable and you would relate better with the developer and it will make the projects go smoothly. After all, It’s your website and anything that’s worth doing is worth doing well.
So in this article we are going to learn 6 important things to consider before creating a website to make the website stand out from others and to also make it user- friendly because the website is for people to visit.
1. Your Goal :
Before starting anything in life, I believe it’s essential to have a goal – a purpose – before embarking on the journey. The goal is like a compass or a guide that will help you navigate your journey easily without drifting away.
Your goal of creating a website will make it easier to know what tools to use, the platform to use, how the website will look like, your audience, and the contents. For example, if you are creating a website for a school, the website will require different user interface and functionalities from a website for a hospital. That means the theme and plugins will probably be different(in WordPress).
Your goal makes it clear on what path to take in your creation process. It will guide you throughout your creative process even if it is not in creating a website. I’ve learnt this lesson from my mistake and I hope you learn from it.
2. Domain Name
Once the purpose of the website has been established the next thing is to get the domain name based on the purpose of the site.
your domain name is like your address on the internet. it’s what you type in the URL spot
Ideally, your domain name should be that of your company name or a name that represents what your brand is about or based on your goal. you might not get the exact domain you want or it must have been taken. In this case, you can choose a domain name that reflects your business line.
Try to make the domain name catchy and distinctive. The domain name is a powerful marketing tool that you should fully utilize. you can get your domain name cheap here. There is a lot of domain name registrars out there but I recommend NameCheap.
3. Web Hosting
If the domain name is like your address, then web hosting is the space where your site resides on the internet. The money you pay to web hosting service is like the rental fee you pay for them to make sure your site is live on the internet.
There are lots of companies that offer these services. Most companies offer the services of both purchasing domain name and web hosting.
I use Namecheap because it’s cheap and they have effective customer service. Their services are more than what you pay for. You can get both domain name and web hosting for a discounted price here. If you would build your site with WordPress just like me. it’s just a click of a button.
4. Content Management System(CMS)
A content management system is an application that will give you the platform to create and manage your website and its content. It is always installed in your control panel when you purchase a web hosting service.
While there are hundreds of CMS platforms, some of the more popular ones are listed below:
According to usage statistics of content management systems now report that WordPress powers over 60 million websites, or 36% of all websites on the internet and over 60% of all websites whose content management systems are known.
This makes it easy for you because there is a lot of resources – plugins, templates and themes – out there for you to utilize(even for free) for your project and there is a huge community that are willing to help. There is a lot of popular website done with WordPress
But it does not have to be WordPress, if the purpose of the websites requires another content management system (CMS) or you already know how to use another platforms, then go ahead.
5. Security (SSL)
Nobody will visit a website that is not secured. So it’s essential to take into consideration the security before creating a website. And if you hire a web developer make sure the site is secured before the developer hands it over to you.
Most hosting companies have the tools that provide this service and there are plugins in WordPress that provide these functionalities
UI means user-interface. It is basically how the website or application looks. Different elements and items come together to form the user-interface, such as
Background images, etc.
Most of those above factors should be considered before creating a website – especially the colour, it should be consistent with the brand’s colour. The design has to be clean, the fonts usage also have to be consistent.
UX is the experience that encompasses all aspects of the end-users interaction with the company, its services, and its products. What it means is that the ease and the effectiveness a user experiences when navigating your digital product or services
You have to make your User-experience(Ux) as simple and effective as possible so that users can get the most of it and it will help your brand to grow because it is usable. Some attribute of Ux are
The speed of the site
Easy navigation of the pages
The responsiveness of the site(half of the internet traffic are from mobile phones)
The compatibility of the site with different browsers
You can check the responsiveness of your website at responsinator and you can check the speed ,load time and more at Gtmetrix.
With all these factors taken into consideration, creating a website – whether it’s yours or for a client – will not be as hard as you think and it covers the best practices.
There are tons of websites out there but websites that utilize the best practices will stand the test of time while Fulfilling the purpose it was created.
A website is for others to visit so it must be user-friendly and also responsive. The responsiveness is important because the rise of mobile phones has skyrocketed.
With those basics met, you can create a website that is awesome – regardless of the Content Management system(CMS).
